49ers hold off Seahawks, 33-17
The San Francisco 49ers got off to a quick start to the season with a 33-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
For the 49ers, it was a special occasion given that it was new head coach Jim Harbaugh’s first NFL victory.
Special teams star Ted Ginn Jr. was really the star of the day, returning both a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns.
Frank Gore was rather quiet and Alex Smith didn’t do much, but at least he didn’t commit any silly turnovers.
The win gives the 49ers a leg up in the NFC West race, which is sure to be just as ugly as last year.
