49ers smash Bucs, 48-3

The San Francisco 49ers put together their most impressive performance to date with a 48-3 drubbing of the San Francisco 49ers.

Running back Frank Gore rumbled for 125 yards and Vernon Davis caught two touchdown passes.

It seems like quarterback Alex Smith has hit his stride under head coach John Harbaugh and might become a legitimate starter in the league.

The defense certainly did more than its part too, shutting down LaGarrette Blount and causing Josh Freeman to have a terrible day throwing the ball. ( Read More…)

49ers hold off Seahawks, 33-17

The San Francisco 49ers got off to a quick start to the season with a 33-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

For the 49ers, it was a special occasion given that it was new head coach Jim Harbaugh’s first NFL victory.

Special teams star Ted Ginn Jr. was really the star of the day, returning both a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns.

Frank Gore was rather quiet and Alex Smith didn’t do much, but at least he didn’t commit any silly turnovers. ( Read More…)

49ers roll past Cardinals, 38-7

The San Francisco 49ers finished off the season on a high note with a 38-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

In their first game without head coach Mike Singletary, the 49ers looked like a team that had a huge burden removed from their shoulders.

Quarterback Alex Smith looked like the biggest beneficiary, throwing for 276 yards and two touchdowns.

Smith spread the ball around to seven different receivers, with tight end Vernon Davis having the biggest day. ( Read More…)
